Reusable slide sheets are often blue in colour (for ease of identification) and are typically a higher fabric weight compared to non-washable alternatives. They can be laundered* in commercial / hospital laundries or residential washing machines at thermal disinfection temperatures, as opposed to single-use and patient specific slide sheets, thus allowing for reuse with different people.
As a result of the ability to wash reusable slide sheets, a longer life span is common when compared to single use slide sheets, which must be disposed of after one use, and patient specific slide sheets which can only be used with the same individual for the lifetime of the sheet.
Reusable slide sheets are therefore able to offer a cost-effective solution (over the product lifetime), and as reusable textiles are often considered a more sustainable option, they can be part of a carbon reduction plan or environmental policy reducing waste.
